Kalindi River Resort

Apart from any other homestay in wayanad how this stands apart is because there is a small river flowing in front of the homestay , this homestay consists of 3 or 4 rooms in the main building which is made according to the traditional historic Kerala houses architecture (only from the outside) and two tree houses. The main building rooms are having two beds and a toilet with all the required facilities including western toilet, hot water facility etc. I will also say it is decent enough for any person to enjoy the serenity of the wayanad forest. The tree house also has two beds, but the toilet is separate in the downside of the tree, the tree house has a balcony from which you can have the peaceful look of the kalindi river which is also known as papanashini river ( in the sense the water which can cleanse your sins). The best part which I came across over there is that you can sit by the banks of the river, there you can get a campfire setup and have your booze. The cold breeze which is created by the pitching of the flowing water on the rocks makes it a delightful combination for the booze, which adds an extra ordinary feeling to your night. The best season to go there is from September to January. The morning bath in the river is a mind nourishing experience. Most of the time there will be no crowd at all. Calm and peaceful place. Just take care that you bargain for a good deal keeping in mind that it is not a posh hotel, it is just an adequate place just suitable enough for enjoying the greenery and serenity of the Tirunelli forest. To reach there you have to travel from Manathavady to kattikulam and from there a 25 km stretch forest road. You can have nice scenery and enjoy the greenery if you are travelling in daytime .Avoid travelling in night especially in two wheeler as chances of face to face encounter with elephants are more in this forest stretch. Apart from that you can spot deer herd. There is parking space available little away from the home stay. You can park your 2 wheeler / 4 wheeler safely over there. The food menu is not so extravagant. You can find normal Kerala dishes in breakfast, lunch and Dinner. The Staff over there are very co-operative, they will take in account if you need any particular dishes.

Divine to stay..!!! Such as charismatic location in the lap of nature. If you really wanna a offbeat stay. Choose Kalindi..!!! I stayed there on May 22, 2015 - May 23, 2015. Hospitality is good. Food is also Superb. Local peoples are friendly. I was there on a solo trip, but enjoyed my stay well and good. Worth. Will definitely visit with family & friends again. :)
